I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 25 years of professional experience. My career has focused on working with the older adult and their families. My work experience has included 13 years as Director of Social Services in nursing homes providing patients with support and comfort during difficult life transitions. As a hospice social worker I helped patients and families cope with end-of-life issues. In the home health agency I helped patients readjust to the home environment after hospitalization and rehabilitation. For the past 17 years I've been in private practice with the majority of this practice providing therapy in the home setting, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
My approach is eclectic and client-centered. I strive to provide comfort and support along with helping the older adult learn how to cope with many life changes and challenges. Problems are multiplied when dealing with numerous losses: the death of a spouse, relocation, cognitive decline, physical limitations, life style changes. Working with the older population includes family members as this time is a transition for everyone.
